Disney Reveals Ocean-Set Animated Comedy 'Moana' for 2016
Walt Disney Animation is poised for a huge hit in a couple of weeks when Big Hero 6 opens, but they already looking further down the line to their next projects. The studio has announced the CG-animated comedy Moana to be released in 2016. They've also dropped a piece of concept art that shows it to be a grand sea-faring adventure. Here's the synopsis:
In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.
Directing will be the duo of Ron Clements and John Musker, whose previous work on Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid, two Disney classics. Moana is expected to open in late 2016, possibly taking the November 23rd date Pixar set aside earlier this year.
