Emily Blunt Re-Teams with Rupert Friend for His Directorial Debut
Period pieces aren't exactly in my wheelhouse but I've got a soft spot for Jean-Marc Vallee's The Young Victoria. More passionate than the genre generally offers, it starred Emily Blunt in a Golden Globe-nominated performance opposite Rupert Friend, and now the two are being reunited for his directorial debut.
Blunt will star in Friend's Barton & Charlie & Checco & Bill, which hopefully is undergoing a title change right now. Friend also wrote the script and will star in the film about "a down-on-his-luck con-artist who meets a woman who he offers to teach the tricks of his trade. She turns the tables on him and they embark on a road trip, along with a 10-year old Mexican boy, where they are pursued a Confederate newspaper mogul, Bill."
Filming is set to begin in the spring. Blunt will be seen later this year as part of Disney's musical ensemble, Into the Woods. Friend is set to star as the title character in video game adaptation Hitman: Agent 47. [Deadline]
