Shailene Woodley Joins Oliver Stone's Edward Snowden Biopic

Shailene Woodley may have launched her career with angst-filled teen roles in The Descendants and The Spectacular Now, this year we've seen her grow up considerably. Aside from the YA franchise Divergent, she took on the heart-wrenching drama The Fault in our Stars, and Gregg Araki's mature-themed White Bird in a Blizzard, and now she's going even further by joining Oliver Stone's upcoming biopic on Edward Snowden.

Woodley is in talks to join Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the film centered on the infamous NSA whistlebower. Based on a pair of books on Snowden, the film will document his race to Hong Kong where he met journalist Glenn Greenwald and documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras. Woodley will play Snowden's girlfriend, Lindsay Mills, who made the move to Moscow with him to seek asylum.

Production on the untitled film begins in January.
