While it remains unclear just how closely Marvel's Netflix series' will crossover with the Cinematic Universe, there is undoubtedly a great deal of world building being done on the small screen. Krysten Ritter is set to lead AKA Jessica Jones, which follows the Daredevil series and features Mike Colter as Luke "Power Man" Cage. Now another major character has been cast and it's one with ties to both the Avengers and the Defenders.
Australian actress Rachael Taylor (The Darkest Hour) has been cast as Patricia "Trish" Walker, Jones' best friend on the show. In the comics she tends to go by Patsy Walker aka the Avenger and Defender known as Hellcat. The Defenders are due to get their own series later down the line so this could be a cog in setting that up. Here's the official character description:
"Trish is a syndicated radio talk show host, former model and child TV star known to her adoring fans as “Patsy” Walker. As Jessica Jones’ closest friend, Trish helps her embark on the most dangerous case of Jessica’s career."
There's no guarantee she'll become Hellcat or anything like that, especially since AKA Jessica Jones is more of a street level detective show. The 13-episode series should arrive later this year.
