'Deadpool' Adds Morena Baccarin as the Female Lead

This first season of Gotham has had more lows than highs, but the series has really picked up with the arrival of Morena Baccarin as Dr. Leslie Thompkins. She's been great (and extremely beautiful) on everything from Firefly to V to Homeland, and now she's just landed the female lead in Deadpool opposite Ryan Reynolds.

Baccarin's name had been listed as one of the six actresses up for the role, which will apparently be a romantic interest for the "Merc with a Mouth".  While we still have no clue who she will be playing, a character breakdown from a days ago did have a few details. Her character, going under the codename of Lindsay, is described as "attractive and worldly. Smart, tough, beautiful but a little bit broken. Nothing has ever been easy for her and she’s developed a thick skin and cynical outlook. But she’s not a victim—she may not have a great life but she’s holding it together and does what she needs to get by. She’s got a great sense of humor but it leans heavily towards irony and sarcasm." The role would also require a three sequel commitment so Baccarin could be hanging around for awhile.

Deadpool will be directed by Tim Miller for release on February 12th 2016 with Gina Carano, Ed Skrein, and TJ Miller co-starring. [THR]
