First Image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman!

Originally Jason Momoa was in line to play Drax the Destroyer in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, but that role obviously went to WWE superstar Dave Bautista who did a darn good job. Clearly, the folks over at Warner Bros. and DC were keeping a close watch on the situation in hopes of signing Momoa for a potentially bigger role; that of Justice League stalwart, Aquaman. While Momoa refused to confirm he was on board for months, it was eventually confirmed he would be play the King of the Seas in a brief appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, followed by a solo movie in July 2018, plus two Justice League films in 2017 and 2019.

We've seen Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck's Batman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, but today finally brings the first official look at Momoa as Aquaman! It's an interesting image, one that is similar to the Comic-Con reveals of the other heroes, and it combines his traditional look with a sleeker, modern appearance. What may be most interesting is the caption provided by director Zack Snyder who debuted the image: "There is only one true King. #unitetheseven"

Clearly "Unite the Seven" refers to the Justice League, but could it also mean we'll be getting more images soon? Let's hope so.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens March 25th 2016. Aquaman takes to the seas on July 27th 2018. Justice League part 1 arrives on November 17th 2017 while part 2 opens June 14th 2019.
