Oscars 2015: Unforgettable Moments, Stirring Speeches, and More
Whatever your thoughts on last night's 87th Academy Awards, and the general consensus is that it was (*shocker*) overlong and generally mediocre, there were plenty of great individual moments. Mostly these involved the genuine awe and joy of the winners as they took to the stage, with many of them taking time out to use the international platform to tell personal stories or champion causes. The Imitation Game writer Graham Moore hit the stage to talk about his own bout with suicide; Patricia Arquette spoke about women's rights and equality, and Common and John Legend brought the crowd to tears with their stirring performance of "Glory". They then used their awards victory to talk about causes Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would have championed if he were alive today.
There were also light-hearted moments to go along with all the serious stuff, whether it be Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu wearing Michael Keaton's tighty whities, or the director of Ida denying the speech send-off music. Here are some of those great moments from last night. Enjoy!
