Reese Witherspoon may have mounted a sweet comeback with dramatic performances in Mud, The Good Lie, and Wild, but it was her talent for silly comedy that made her America's sweetheart. While she hasn't done anything close to Legally Blonde in quite awhile, she's about to have some fun in the buddy comedy, Hot Pursuit, alongside the red hot salsa number Sofia Vergara.
Directed by Anne Fletcher (27 Dresses), the film has Witherspoon as an uptight Texas cop who must protect the sexy widow of a mob boss long enough for her to testify in court. So what you get is a lot of Vergara squealing in bad broken English; jokes about age; jokes about Witherspoon's height (which are pretty funny); jokes about underwear; and...well, that's probably enough for this to make $200M. Both women are likable enough and it's really good to see Witherspoon doing this kind of thing again.
Hot Pursuit hits the road on May 8th.
