If there was any doubt that CBS' Supergirl series is ready to take flight, these brand new images of star Melissa Benoist (Whiplash) in costume should put them to rest. The pair of photos show Benoist as the second most famous Kryptonian superhero (sorry Krypto!), and the costume is simple but strong with darker colors. Considering some of the costumes the character has worn in the comics they really could have tarted it up, but Oscar-winning designer Colleen Atwood went with practicality and that was probably the smart decision.
Supergirl comes from Arrow and The Flash creator, Greg Berlanti, and centers on 24-year-old Kara Danvers aka Kara Danvers. After years of hiding her powers she has decided to begin using them for good. The rest of the cast consists of Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, Laura Benanti as Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as Winslow Schott, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw and ex-Superfolks Dean Cain and Helen Slater in mystery roles.
