WWE Hall of Famer Adam Copeland, better known to his fans as Edge, has done pretty well for himself since retiring in 2011. He's had a recurring role on the long-running Syfy series, Haven, and...well, okay he also starred in WWE's awful cop comedy Bending the Rules. Hopefully his next film for the company will turn out better as he and current WWE superstar Lana (aka CJ Perry) will star in Interrogation, an action movie that is part of WWE Studio's 6-picture deal with Lionsgate.
Interrogation's screenplay was acquired way back in 2002 and they've been developing it ever since, so obviously there is something they really like about it. Here's the synopsis which makes it sound like just another WWE film...
“With a bomb set to go off in Las Vegas on one of the busiest betting days of the year, the story focuses on a brilliant interrogator called in to question the prime suspect. As time runs out, we soon learn there’s an even bigger plan in place for both of them.”
Copeland's been acting since appearing in 2002's Highlander: Endgame, but what may surprise some is that Lana, who is the sexy Russian manager to United States Champion Rusev, also has extensive time in front of the camera. She had an brief appearance in Pitch Perfect and will appear in the sequel. She's had roles on TV series The Game and Showtime's Banshee.
Because Lana is so closely attached to the hip of Rusev (the two are a couple in real life), it will be interesting to see how WWE writes her off television so she can shoot the film. But first a director must be found (calling Roel Reine), so expect an announcement on that and the start of production soon. You can check out videos from both Edge and Lana (still in character!) talking about Interrogation.
