Bryan Singer is Ready to Lead an 'Uprising'
Robert A. Heinlein's Hugo Award-winning novel The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is one that Hollywood has been itching to adapt for a long time. A pair of attempts have been made already, including one by Dreamworks, but now 20th Century Fox is giving the futuristic tale a shot, and they're all-out on it by bringing aboard X-Men director, Bryan Singer.
Singer is listed as a producer on the project, which has Arrow producer and comic book scribe Marc Guggenheim as the screenwriter. The book's title will be changed to Uprising, which fits Heinlein's futuristic story set in 2075 and centering on a Lunar penal colony's revolt against the authority on Earth.
If Singer is aiming to direct as some suspect, the film seems ready made for the kind of big budget special effects he brought to last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past. It would also mean a pretty long wait since he's still hard at work on next year's X-Men: Apocalypse. [THR]
