Kate Upton and Lea Michele take 'The Layover'; Travis Tope Joins 'Independence Day 2'

William H. Macy has found two gorgeous leads for his directorial follow-up to last year's indie hit, Rudderless. Kate Upton, who has been busy lately pimping video games to geeks, and Glee's Lea Michele are set to star in The Layover, which centers on two longtime friends who escape their lives by going on vacation. Problems arise when a hurricane reroutes the flight and the ladies are stuck in St. Louis on an extended layover. So they pass the time by falling for the same guy. Ugh. How is Katherine Heigl not in this? Anyway, the film will be written by David Hornsby and Lance Krall, writers on FX's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The cast of Roland Emmerich's Independence Day 2 keeps getting bigger and younger. The latest addition is Boardwalk Empire's Travis Tope in an unspecified role. He joins the returning Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, and (likely) Bill Pullman, along with new additions Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Jessie Usher. The latter will play the son of Will Smith and Fox's characters. Smith isn't expected to return for the sequel which opens on June 24th 2016.
