Rumored 'Star Wars' TV Series is Still Happening, but Not For A While

A Star Wars live-action television show has been the hope of fans everywhere for years, and it very nearly happened while George Lucas was still running things. It never got going, though, but when Disney bought Lucasfilm they were clearly interested in making that project a reality. It was just going to take time, and that time may be nearing if the latest rumor from Cinelinx is accurate.

The site says Disney have a plan in the works for a Star Wars TV series, but the strategy they'll employ will be similar to what worked for Marvel. Basically they will wait until the Star Wars franchise is established and the production schedules aligned so that filming can take place at Pinewood Studios with the same sets. Also, the show would feature a character introduced in one of the many Star Wars books that make up the new canon.

This is still just a rumor but it rings as true, doesn't it? Look, we all know that a Star Wars TV series is going to happen. It just will because there's too much money in it. And if that's the case then it makes sense Disney would follow the Marvel plan which seems to have worked. That would likely mean setting it during the same time as the new trilogy and spinoffs, with storylines that overlap and feed into one another. Could be amazing if it all works out, but is there a chance of too much Star Wars? One could argue Agents of SHIELD was just a little too much Marvel which is why ratings have been mediocre. Is there any chance of that happening with Star Wars, too?
