'Selma' to be Re-Released in Theaters this Week with Special Ticket Deal

Ava Duvernay's Selma may not have gotten the love from the Oscar voters that many believe it deserved, but it may be film remembered most fondly in the future. Certainly its importance in honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and those who fought and died for equal rights is undeniable, especially right now as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic march. And to further honor that anniversary, Selma is being re-released into theaters this weekend.

Paramount is bringing Selma back to theaters beginning Friday, March 20th, and they've included a special to ensure as many people see it as possible. For a limited time there's a two-for-one ticket offer at any of the 702 theaters showing the Oscar and Golden Globe-winning drama. So bring a friend, bring a neighbor, or better yet bring someone who may have lived through that tumultuous time.

Maybe this is Paramount's way of making up for an extremely poor awards campaign that saw it win only one Oscar for Best Original Song. Mostly through the promotional efforts of DuVernay and the cast (which some found controversial), the $20M film has still managed to earn $51M at the box office. Selma was my top film of 2014 and I think its impact will be long lasting. Do yourself a favor and take advantage of this opportunity to see it if you haven't already.
