Box Office: 'Furious 7' Holds On to #1; 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' Powers to $200M Overseas

Before we get rolling with the top 10 proper, Avengers: Age of Ultron is already staking its claim to be the top-grossing movie of 2015 and it hasn't even opened in America yet. The film hit overseas theaters last week and has already hit $201M, more than $10M of that in IMAX. It's worth noting this number does not include China which is the biggest non-U.S. market out there and has been catered to specifically by Marvel, so we can expect a huge turnout coming from them. Basically the sequel is already tracking to outdo The Avengers' $895M international haul, and the $1.5B it earned overall.

1. Furious 7- $18.2M/$320.5M
With only a handful of relatively small releases this week it's no surprise Furious 7 took #1 for a fourth week in a row, getting in a few more days until Avengers: Age of Ultron swoops in and takes over. The film has now earned $1.3B worldwide with $1B of that coming from overseas, making it the third biggest overseas grosser ever behind Titanic and Avatar. Overall Furious 7 is now the fifth biggest hit in movie history which, let's be honest, nobody in their right mind could have predicted. Now that Fast & Furious 8 is slated for 2017 it's going to have incredibly high expectations.
2. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2- $15.5M/$43.9M
Sliding only 34% was Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, and clearly this one isn't going to match the $183M of the first film six years ago. Still, it's doing well enough as a comedic showcase for Kevin James if you're into that sort of thing. Meanwhile, James' supporting role in the wartime drama Little Boy opened small with $2.8M. Who wants to pay to see him act when they can watch him fall on his face or get kicked by horses?
3. The Age of Adaline (review here)- $13.3M
Blake Lively's beauty was pretty much all the marketing The Age of Adaline received, as her face was plastered all over the promos for the fantasy/romance. That was enough to get the film a decent $13M debut, which isn't bad for Lively in her first pure starring role.
4. Home- $8.3M/$153.7M
5. Unfriended- $6.2M/$25.1M
Skype-friendly horror Unfriended has upped its total to $25M over two weeks, making it the latest low-budget hit for Universal and Blumhouse.
6. Ex Machina- $5.4M/$6.9M
Alex Garland's brilliant Ex Machina, riding on the wave of universally strong reviews, expanded to over 1200 theaters and earned $5.4M. That it features Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson, both fixtures in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, probably helps a little bit.
7. The Longest Ride- $4.3M/$30.3M
8. Get Hard- $3.9M/$84M
9. Monkey Kingdom- $3.55M/$10.2M
10. Woman in Gold- $3.5M/$21.6M
