The crew of the Starship Enterprise has already gone "into darkness", and now they may be headed "beyond" even that. TrekMovie is reporting a rumor that Star Trek 3's title may be Star Trek Beyond, which sounds more like the title of a video game or a series of comic books.
The title was apparently registered with the MPAA, but the site admits this may not be the final title when all is said and done. Studios have been known to register multiple names either as misdirection or for other projects they have in the pipeline. The next Star Trek film will be directed by Fast Five's Justin Lin and reunite the original cast with new additions Idris Elba and Kingsman: The Secret Service's Sofia Boutella. Simon Pegg is pulling double-duty as co-writer alongside Doug Jung.
Star Trek 3, or Star Trek Beyond, opens July 8th 2016.
