Is this the Title of Marvel's Spider-Man Reboot?
Spider-Man will be swinging his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, giving fans exactly what they had been hoping for all these years. It's expected that Spidey's first appearance will be in Captain America: Civil War, which is shaping up to be the most crowded non-Avengers Marvel movie ever. While there's still some question as to who will ultimately play Peter Parker, there are other details to be sorted out, like the title of Spider-Man's upcoming solo film.
While we've heard a rumor the Spider-Man reboot, written and directed by Drew Goddard, would be titled Spectacular Spider-Man, that may not actually be the case. Umberto Gonzalez (formerly of Latino Review) has a rumor that says the film's working title is Spider-Man: The New Avenger, which sounds awfully on-the-nose and straight-forward.
On the one hand, it's a way for Marvel to set a clear distinction between their Spider-Man and the two Sony franchises we've seen in relatively short order. Plus, as corny as it may be it's not that much different from Captain America's first film, 'The First Avenger'. With so many of the Avengers expected to disappear around the time of Avengers: Infinity War it would be a good way of establishing Spidey as the new centerpiece hero.
On the other hand, it immediately gives away what to expect from Spider-Man's storyline when, hopefully, he's going to be about more than just joining the Avengers.
Anyway, this is still just a rumor and a shaky one at that. The Spider-Man reboot arrives on July 28th 2017.
