Warner Bros. Shifts the 'Lego' Franchise Release Dates; 'Pan' Bumped from Summer

Warner Bros. has a number of franchises to manage beyond the DC Universe. One that has been rapidly growing is the Lego branch, spinning off from the massive success of The Lego Movie, and with so many films being added into the mix a restructuring of the release dates has become necessary.

The Lego: Ninjago film has been bumped a full year to September 22nd 2017, meaning that it will go from one of the first films to one of the last. That means the next one will be Lego Batman starring Will Arnett, which has been moved up to February 10th 2017. Finally, The Lego Movie 2 has shifted forward a week to May 18th 2018. Phil Lord and Chris Miller will write the screenplay with Rob Schrab directing, and the story is said to take place four years after the original. None of this includes the recently-announced Billion Brick Race from Jason Segel and Drew Pearce which remains on May 24th 2019.

Finally, Warner Bros. has moved Joe Wright's Peter Pan film, Pan, from this July down to October 24th because of a "crowded field" of blockbusters. Doesn't show a lot of confidence, does it? And really, why should there be? Buzz on the film has been nonexistent and the trailer was coolly received despite a cast that includes Garrett Hedlund, Rooney Mara, Amanda Seyfried, and Hugh Jackman. They may be trying to make the best of a bad situation.
