Andre Tricoteaux Confirmed as Colossus in 'Deadpool' Film

It was surprising enough to learn that the steel mutant Colossus would be showing up in next year's Deadpool film, but it was more of a shock to learn that Daniel Cudmore, who had been playing him since X-2, wouldn't reprise the role. We hadn't heard anything on who would replace him, but now it's been confirmed that Andre Tricoteau has taken the role.

Set photos (via Just Jared) had shown Tricoteau all suited up for some kind of motion capture role assumed to be Colossus, but there was never any official announcements from 20th Century Fox. Fortunately Gina Carano, who plays Angel Dust in the Tim Miller-directed film, confirmed it for us on Twitter....

The 6'10" Tricoteau has mostly done stuntwork and some TV roles, and he's set to play an orc war captain in Duncan Jones' Warcraft. He also spent time as a professional wrestler, so this is a guy who has all the physical tools to play the powerful Russian mutant. How exactly Colossus fits into the Deadpool story is still unclear because we honestly don't know much about the plot. If Fox is looking to connect their expanding X-Men franchises this is a pretty good way to go about it.

Also starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, TJ Miller, Ed Skrein, and Brianna Hildebrand, Deadpool opens next year on February 12th.
