Will Gluck Directing Disney's Untitled Lottery Film; Catherine Hardwicke Plans 'Love Letters to the Dead'

Easy A and Annie director Will Gluck is set to direct an untitled lottery project over at Disney. The film has been in the works for awhile and was previously titled Lucky Guy, but Gluck will help oversee a script rewrite by Martin Hynes that will convert it to a female-centric story centered on an unlucky small-town woman who is the only person in her town not to win the lottery. However it turns out to be a blessing in disguise that allows her to save the town from ruin. [THR]

Catherine Hardwicke is venturing back to the YA realm after launching the Twilight franchise years ago. She is set to direct an adaptation of Ava Dellaira's novel, Love Letters to the Dead, which centers on a young high school girl who copes with the death of her sister by writing letters to dead celebrities like  Kurt Cobain, Heath Ledger, Janis Joplin, and Amy Winehouse. Dellaira will write the screenplay herself. Hardwicke has been floundering for awhile now and this may be a good bounce back film for her. Her most recent film, the rock music thriller Plush, barely got a release at all.
