Charlize Theron to Star in Spy Flick 'The Coldest City' from 'John Wick' Directors
All on the strength of last year's surprise hit, John Wick, former stuntmen-turned-directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski are the hottest duo in Hollywood. While their schedule is already booked up with a number of upcoming projects, including a John Wick sequel, they've found time to direct the equally busy Charlize Theron in the graphic novel adaptation, The Coldest City.
Leitch and Stahelski will co-direct The Coldest City, based on a script adapted by Kurt Johnstad (300) and with Theron in the lead role. Set in 1989 during the fall of Communism, Theron will play spy Lorraine Broughton who is tasked with investigating the death of an MI6 officer who was carrying potentially explosive information.
Filming is to begin this October, which should give Theron time to wrap up shooting on The Huntsman, the prequel to Snow White and the Huntsman. Leitch and Stahelski are attached to direct Chris Pratt in Cowboy Ninja Viking, plus the Valiant Comics' adaptation Bloodshot. They've also got a TV series with Keanu Reeves coming up and John Wick 2. Rumors have also been going around they're high on Warner Bros.' list for a DC Comics film. [Deadline]
