'Bob's Burgers' Writers to Pen Competing Screenplay for Female-Led '21 Jump Street' Spinoff

Always starved for new franchises, Sony has taken to developing female spins on their established franchises. Paul Feig has his all-lady Ghostbusters coming up, Sony thought about a female Spider-Man movie for awhile, and recently we learned they were planning a female 21 Jump Street spinoff. While they have already hired Broad City writers Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs for whatever this 'Jump Street' project turns out to be, Sony is turning the screenplay gig into a competition.

THR reports Sony has hired Bob's Burgers writers Lizzie and Wendy Molyneux to pen a competing draft for the female 'Jump Street' film. How all of this fits with Sony's overall plans for the growing franchise remains to be seen, but they're setting up 23 Jump Street and may crossover with Men in Black, somehow. Why not just go all the way and have Ghostbusters meet 'Jump Street' while teaming up with the Men in Black in the land of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs?

There are no details on what the film will entail, though. Will it follow the two rival female cops, one played by Dakota Johnson, who were in 21 Jump Street? Or an all-new crime fighting team? This is obviously still pretty early on as the scripts need to be finished before Sony can pick which one to roll with.
