Disney Plans Live-Action Film Based on Famous 'Fantasia' Sequence

In case you haven't noticed, Disney has gone crazy with the live-action remakes of their animated films, and why wouldn't they? Maleficent and Cinderella did gangbusters at the box office, leading the way for upcoming films based on Winnie the Pooh, Mulan, The Jungle Book, Dumbo, and many more. So what's next on their list? Fantasia.

According to THR, Disney has set in motion a live-action film based on the "Night on Bald Mountain" sequence from the 1940s animated Fantasia. The sequence was based on 19th century composer Modest Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain" and features the winged devil Chernobog, whose name literally translates to "black god". Writing the screenplay will be Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the duo behind last year's Dracula Untold because...obviously. There goal will be to follow in the footsteps of Maleficent, which means we may see just how Chernobog was really a misunderstood demon the whole time.

So this sounds like a bad idea on paper but Disney has done pretty well with these movies so far.  Check out the full animated sequence below.
