HBO has established themselves as the go-to network for hard-hitting political dramas, and next their attention has turned to one of this country's greatest scandals. Kerry Washington, who appropriately stars in ABC's Scandal, will star as Anita Hill in Confirmation, directed by Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) and centering on the sexual harassment case that nearly derailed Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas' career.
With production underway we're getting the first look at Washington in the role of Hill, but unfortunately nothing of Wendell Pierce as Thomas just yet. Hill had been Thomas' assistant at the Department of Education, and emerged to accuse him of harassment during his Supreme Court confirmation hearings. The headline-grabbing case had allegations of racism, sexism, victim shaming, and more, with Hill becoming a national pariah as a result. The film also stars Greg Kinnear as Joe Biden, Dylan Baker as Orrin Hatch, and Grace Gummer as Ricki Seidman.
HBO has yet to reveal when Confirmation will air.
