Forget Everything You Thought You Knew About Han Solo

Something to remember about the Star Wars continuity Lucasfilm and Disney have established is that the old novels and comics no longer count. Only the newly released novels, comic books, and shows such as Star Wars Rebels are considered canon to the big screen trilogies. So when something happens in the comics now, it matters. And that makes issue #6 of the Star Wars comic a whopper that affects everything we knew about a lot of things, but especially Han Solo. In fact, it's so big that some of our non-comics readers may want to venture to their local shop and pick it up.

So there has been a great deal of speculation about the woman on the above cover image...the one who clearly isn't Princess Leia. Was she someone from the old graphic novels that Lucasfilm repurposed for the new continuity? All we knew was what the solicitation told us; that she was a "mysterious woman from Han's past". But oh, is it so far beyond that, because that woman is actually Sana Solo...Han's wife.

Yeah, you read that right. Han has...or at least had, a wife. Now, we don't know what all of this means yet. She may not be his current wife, but she may still consider them to be married. Who knew Han dug the sistas? That's a pretty significant morsel of info in my humble opinion, too.

Seriously though, this is arguably the most significant twist on Star Wars continuity we've seen from Disney since they bought Lucasfilm, and it makes reading these comics more vital than ever if you want the full story. This issue, which releases today, has other big moments like a very early encounter between Luke Skywalker and Boba Fett. You're going to want to check this out, and definitely it will be interesting to see if this has any impact on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. [BleedingCool]
