Did you know today was Global Smurfs Day? Seriously, that's a thing, and presumably somewhere there's an entire town of people wearing little while hats and painting themselves blue. You don't see much call for Smurfs cosplay so maybe days like this will suffice. Anyway, to celebrate this special occasion, Sony Pictures has announced the voice cast for their animated Smurfs movie, Get Smurfy.
Rainn Wilson is on board to voice the evil Gargamel, with Demi Lovato as Smurfette and Mandy Patinkin as Papa Smurf. Unlike the previous two live-action movies, which have grossed more than $900M worldwide, this third one will be CG-animated and stick closer to the style originated by Smurfs creator, Peyo.
Kelly Asbury (Gnomeo & Juliet) is directing the story which is to delve deeper into the Smurfs' origins. Smurfette and the other Smurfs will be trying to beat Gargamel in locating a fabled Smurfs village buried deep in the Enchanted Forest.
Get Smurfy opens March 31st 2017.
