*UPDATE* Two Spider-Man Contenders Remain Including a New Finalist

*UPDATE* Deadline is now stating that a decision on who will be Marvel's Spider-Man could come next week. Then again, the choice was supposed to have been made by now and that didn't happen. But with time running short a move needs to be made very soon.

Not only are Marvel and Sony unable to come to an agreement on the Spider-Man finalists, apparently neither can the Internet news hounds. Earlier we heard that Asa Butterfield was out of contention, with Tom Holland, Matthew Lintz, and Charlie Plummer as the three finalists. Well now Devin Faraci says it's actually down to just two, including one who wasn't on the earlier list.

The new story says Holland is still in the mix, while Charlie Rowe (Never Let Me Go) is there alongside him. Rowe also had a role in The Golden Compass so he's been around for a little bit. He was also on an earlier list, and was briefly considered by Fox for the Cyclops role in X-Men: Apocalypse.

If this is true, it would seem to indicate all sides really like Holland as he's been near the top for awhile now. Apparently this isn't about both sides arguing as it is exhibiting a ton of caution. Whoever they choose is going to be around for awhile and it makes sense to make sure they get it right.

Spider-Man is set to debut in Captain America: Civil War, which is filming right now.
