Spike Lee Adds Dave Chapelle, Wesley Snipes, and Nick Cannon to the 'Chiraq' Cast

We haven't seen once larger-than-life comedian Dave Chapelle on the big screen since Block Party in 2006, and then he went on his sabbatical from the public spotlight. Recently he's been making a return to the stage, and now he's headed back to movies as part of Spike Lee's Chicago-based film, Chiraq, and he's not alone.

Announced via Lee's Instagram page, Chapelle joins the previously announced Samuel L. Jackson, John Cusack, and Jennifer Hudson in the cast, while Kanye West may be providing some music for the soundtrack. Wesley Snipes is also set to reunite with his Jungle Fever director, along with Nick Cannon and D.B. Sweeney. Cannon will play a rapper while Sweeney is apparently playing the mayor of Chicago.  It's unclear what Chapelle's role is, but one look at Lee's Instagram photo seems to suggest he's running a strip joint or something.  The film has been described as a musical comedy centering on a woman who aims to end gang violence in the city.

Filming on Chiraq is taking place now, and I can't wait to see how this turns out.
