'Arrow' Casts Mr. Terrific and Anarky Roles; 'Gotham' Adds Silver St. Cloud
The fourth season of CW's Arrow is drawing even deeper ties to the DC Comics universe. At San Diego Comic-Con it was revealed that Neal McDonough would be playing the villain Damien Darhk after being teased last season. And now the show's ranks grow once again with the casting of popular JSA member Mr. Terrific and Batman rival, Anarky.
According to EW, Echo Kellum (Ben and Kate) will play Mr. Terrific, whose civilian name will be Curtis Holt on the show rather than Michael Holt as in the comics. A tech genius working at Palmer Technologies, Holt is openly gay and works closely with Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards). The comic books portray Holt as an Olympic-level athlete and one of the most brilliant minds on the planet, often regarded as the third smartest man alive, although it's unclear how that was ever measured.
Meanwhile, Alexander Calvert (Bates Motel) has been cast as the vigilante Anarky, a character who had frequent encounters with Batman and Green Arrow in the comics. Known as Lonnie Machin, Anarky was a radical whose anarchist ideology led him to use violent methods to affect social change. The character was created in 1989 and was extremely popular for awhile, earning two short-lived solo series.
And over in the Batman TV universe of Gotham, Bruce Wayne has found a new love interest in Silver St. Cloud, who will be played by The Goldbergs star Natalie Alyn Lind. St. Cloud has been an occasional lover of Wayne's since her creation in 1977, and was close enough to him that she was able to figure out he was Batman. It was his career as Batman that often stood in the way of their relationship, but he loved her enough to propose marriage, which she accepted just before being murdered by the villain Onomatopoeia. She's generally regarded as a Gotham socialite, and is described for the show as “an ethereal beauty with the pristine manners of a Gotham debutante. She'll also have some kind of connection with Theo Galavan, played by the recently-cast James Frain.
Gotham returns to Fox on September 21st, while Arrow comes back on October 7th.
