Comic-Con: Ben Affleck to Direct and Co-Write Solo Batman Film

The rumors have been swirling for awhile now that Ben Affleck would eventually get his own solo Batman movie. Not only that, but that he would be involved with directing it, as well, possibly for a release in 2018 or 2019. Well, those rumors have now turned out to be true, and with the big Warner Bros. panel coming up at Comic-Con this was the time to reveal it.

According to Deadline, Affleck will direct a solo Batman movie, which he will star in and also co-write with DC's chief creative officer and head comics writer, Geoff Johns. Many of DC's best-selling comics have been penned by Johns, and he's also written TV episodes of Smallville, The Flash, and Arrow.

The duo are said to be "well in synch and have more than found their rhythm" and could have a screenplay ready by the end of the summer. That means Affleck could be ready to roll on it as soon as he's finished directing Dennis Lehane adaptation Live by Night. With Justice League Part 1 coming in 2017 we could see the Batman film hit the 2018 or 2019 target.
