Comic-Con: Wesley Snipes Says He's Had Discussions with Marvel about a 'Blade' Return

Many will cite Bryan Singer's X-Men as the start of the popular comic book movie era, but it actually began a few years earlier with New Line Cinema's Blade. Led by Wesley Snipes, the R-rated movies about the half-human/half-vampire "Daywalker" were a hit that continue to stick with audiences, which is why so many still hope to see the actor return to the role. Could it ever happen, though? With the rights recently reverting back to Marvel control the possibility exists, and Snipes says he and Marvel have even discussed it. While at Comic-Con talking with Deadline about his new series, The Player, Snipes said this about a possible return as Blade...

Marvel might just be interested in putting something together... or at least, they were! "The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. "I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air."

Anyone who saw Snipes in The Expendables 3 knows he's still in the right athletic shape to play Blade, and he sounds more than willing to do it or something else with Marvel...

"I've always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I'd be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t to a 'Blade 4' or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else."

Let's hope something can be worked out, either for a Blade movie or perhaps some kind of Netflix TV series.
