Disney has yet to find one of their classic films they aren't willing to
THR reports that a live-action version of the 1963 fantasy The Sword in the Stone is on the way, written by Game of Thrones' Brian Cogman. Why him? Presumably because he knows about bladed weapons based on the ultra-violent HBO series, but it's doubtful he'll get to spill any guts on a Disney project like this. The original story, based on T.H. White's book series, follows a young King Arthur and his mentorship under the magical wizard, Merlin.
This is still extremely early on, and with Guy Ritchie's Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur film on the way next year Disney may not see any value in pushing ahead with it.
