Garry Marshall Plans 'Mother's Day' with Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, and More

What is it? Does Garry Marshall have some kind of beef with our national holidays? Is that why he keeps delivering soul-crushing romantic comedies such as Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve? Perhaps he finds the idea of digging so deep into his Rolodex to fill out the massive ensembles with A-listers somehow rewarding? Or perhaps it's the increased commercialization of two of the most commercial "holidays" ever that he digs the most. Whatever the case, he's had four years to think of his next big date to ruin, and moms it's your turn!

According to Deadline, Marshall is rounding up another huge cast for Mother's Day, and he's starting off strong with Julia Roberts, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, and Kate Hudson. And this one sounds as uninspired as one might think, with the screenplay by Anya Kochoff-Romano and Lily Hollander telling interconnected stories about mothers as the holiday approaches. There shall be lots of kissing, meet cutes, and probably awkward gift-giving. What does one buy the mom who has everything?? Presumably, Sudeikis will not have any maternal instinct to speak of.

Fight back now, America, or soon Marshall will have the entire calendar at his mercy. Expect lots more casting on this one to come.
