A series created by Martin Scorsese is probably enough to rack up a few more HBO subscriptions. But a series created by Scorsese and Mick Jagger, with Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos, and The Wolf of Wall Street writer Terence Winter penning the pilot episode set in the 1970s rock music scene is the foundation for something historic.
Officially titled Vinyl, the first teaser has arrived and it's giving us a small taste of the sound and glamour of the era. Bobby Cannavale plays the head of a struggling record label, and he's surrounded by the level of cast that only a guy like Scorsese could command. Ray Romano is his best friend and business partner, with Olivia Wilde as Cannavale's wife; Andrew “Dice” Clay, P.J. Byrne, Joe Caniano, Max Casella, J.C. MacKenzie, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Juno Temple, Jack Quaid, and Paul Ben-Victor round out the rest of the lineup.
Scorsese will direct the pilot episode of Vinyl which debuts in 2016.
