Ryan Reynolds Expresses some Rage in the first 'Deadpool' Trailers
Even if you were to look simply at Marvel's core X-Men comics, Deadpool makes for an unlikely character to be, arguably, the company's most popular mutant outside of Wolverine. He began life as a wise-cracking but lethal villain challenging the team known as X-Force, but in time he grew to become an anti-hero, then a full-blown hero and close associate of the X-Men. His popularity was such that a disastrous big-screen debut in the first Wolverine movie didn't stop fans from clamoring for a Deadpool solo movie. In fact, it made them more vocal to see it happen, and aided by star Ryan Reynolds' consistent enthusiasm 20th Century Fox finally gave the people what they want.
The first trailer for Deadpool debuted at Comic-Con to, as I've said multiple times now, greater positive response than anything else the convention had to offer. And now it has finally been brought online in all of its R-rated, fourth-wall-breaking glory, and it is everything Deadpool fans have been craving for the Merc with a Mouth.
Directed by Tim Miller and starring Reynolds as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool, the film's plot has been kept a secret for the most part, but we know it will detail how he went from a Special Forces officer to the maniacal merc everyone knows and loves. Along the way he'll wetwork a bunch of assassins, encounter a pair of X-Men in Colossus (Andre Tricoteux) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), and REALLY wetwork the crap out of a bunch of assassins. Morena Baccarin co-stars as Deadpool's girlfriend Vanessa aka Copycat, TJ Miller is his pal Weasel, and Ed Skrein is his nemesis, Ajax. You'll also see Gina Carano as the mutant known as Angel Dust, and Leslie Uggams as Deadpool's "captive", Blind Al.
Deadpool hits theaters on February 12th 2016. Check out the red and green band trailers below.
