First Trailer for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's 'By the Sea' has their Marriage in Crisis

A decade has passed since Brad Pitt and Angelina aka Brangelina, starred together in the action flick Mr. & Mrs. Smith. In the time since they've become more than just another Hollywood couple, they are Hollywood royalty. While he has stayed busy in front of the camera and branched out to a number of diverse projects, Jolie has expanded her horizons as a director. While she's gone large-scale with epic war dramas Unbroken and In the Land of Blood and Honey, she'll go much smaller for her next directorial effort, By the Sea, which has her reunited on-screen with Pitt.

The first teaser is basically a mood setter, capturing the feel of old school European relationship films. Set in 1970s France, the film centers on an American couple who arrive at a seaside resort to deal with their failing marriage. The film co-stars Melanie Laurent (Now You See Me), Niels Arestrup (War Horse), Melvil Poupaud and Richard Bohringer. Here's the official synopsis:

By the Sea follows an American writer named Roland (Pitt) and his wife, Vanessa (Jolie Pitt), who arrive in a tranquil and picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France, their marriage in apparent crisis. As they spend time with fellow travelers, including young newlyweds Lea (Laurent) and François (Poupaud), and village locals Michel (Arestrup) and Patrice (Bohringer), the couple begins to come to terms with unresolved issues in their own lives.

By the Sea opens on November 13th which places it firmly in the awards race.
