Fox is in Talks with Marvel for an X-Men TV Series

Late last year a rumor surfaced that 20th Century Fox was looking for a way to bring their live-action X-Men characters to the small screen in a TV series. The story picked up some momentum back in January, however it didn't seem as if we were any closer to Marvel's merry mutants getting their own show. Fox hasn't given up, though, and it looks like they've moved on to actual talks with Marvel to make it happen.

At the Fox TCA presentation CEO Dana Walden revealed to THR that Fox and Marvel are in talks to make an X-Men TV series a reality, although things are still a ways off...

“[For] X-Men, we’re in negotiations with Marvel. We’re hopeful we’ll be able to announce something soon. We’re not closed on a deal yet but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing. The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature side so we won’t be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney. This will be exclusively the franchise as it has existed at Fox.”

Fox doesn't have the TV rights to use the X-Men, so that's the deal they need to hammer out with Marvel. However, what's to stop Marvel from deciding to do their own series and keep any profits for themselves? This will be an interesting negotiation to see how it plays out and who reaps what benefits.

So get ready, True Believers, because soon there won't be anything on TV but superheroes.
