2012's Sleepwalk with Me was more than just another comedian bringing their stand-up act to the screen, it signaled the emergence of a fresh comic voice in writer/director/star Mike Birbiglia. And ever since he's been everywhere, from a recurring spot on Orange is the New Black, to supporting roles in The Fault In Our Stars, Trainwreck, Annie, and Joe Swanberg's Digging for Fire. Birbiglia's finally stepping behind the camera again for a new dramedy, Don't Think Twice, and he's rounded up a great cast of funny people to help make it happen.
Birbiglia, who will also produce and co-star in the film, will be joined by Keegan-Michael Key, Gillian Jacobs, and Kate Micucci in a story that seems right up their alley. It centers on a comedy troupe who are dealing with losing the lease on their home theater just as one of their membership lands a gig on the most popular sketch show on TV. Bitterness ensues as some of the troupe come to realize they all may not make it big in showbusiness.
Filming gets underway this week, and on a selfish level I'm hoping it's ready by Sundance, which is where Sleepwalk with Me debuted. [THR]\
