John C. Reilly Joins 'The Sisters Brothers'; 'The Zookeeper's Wife' Adds Daniel Bruhl; Lydia Wilson Boards 'Star Trek Beyond'


Dheepan and Rust & Bone director Jacques Audiard has cast John C. Reilly in his next film, The Sisters Brothers, an English-language western based on Patrick deWitt's book. Set against the backdrop of the 1850s California gold rush, the gritty, darkly comic story centers on siblings Eli and Charlie Sisters, henchmen who begin to question their lives as they track down a man they are meant to kill. Daniel Bruhl has joined Jessica Chastain in The Zookeeper's Wife, the WWII drama based on Diane Ackerman’s book based on the true story of Antonina and Jan Żabińska. Jan was the director of the Warsaw Zoo, and along with his wife helped use it to help hundreds of Jews escape the Warsaw ghetto after the Nazis invaded Poland in 1939. Niki Caro (Whale Rider) is directing with filming to begin next month. [TheWrap]

Details remain scarce on Justin Lin's Star Trek Beyond, but the cast continues to expand with the addition of Lydia Wilson. The About Time actress joins the returning cast along with new stars Idris Elba, Joe Taslim, and Sofie Boutella. Star Trek Beyond opens July 8th 2016. [Variety]
