Rumor: Marvel Planning 'Blade' Movie Centering on His Daughter, Fallon Grey

Ever since Marvel regained the film rights to Blade, the vampire-hunting hero played by Wesley Snipes in a groundbreaking trilogy, fans have been eager to learn if a new franchise could be in the works. There have been various rumblings ever since, some suggesting a new Netflix series, while Snipes himself has weighed in teasing a possible movie return. But now a new rumor has surfaced that adds fuel to the fire, although it may not be the Blade many are expecting.

According to Bleeding Cool, Marvel has noticed the popularity of those original Blade movies and are interested in doing another. However, this one wouldn't follow Blade...but instead center on his daughter, Fallon Grey.  A "well-connected source" notes that Grey's upcoming comic book has been delayed so that there can be better coordination between its release and other media ventures, which would include a big screen feature. Here's the synopsis for Grey's Marvel Comics series:

Fallon Grey is a sixteen year old girl from rural Oregon. Nominated for Prom Queen, Captain of the debate team, most popular girl in her class. But there is another side to Fallon. A feeling like there's something more inside of her. When terror strikes her small town, she'll find out just how right she was. As fearsome supernatural forces hunt Fallon, she'll come face to face with something even more shocking than the monsters on her tail. Eric Brooks…Blade…her father?! And in each other, they'll discover the purpose they've each been struggling to find.

It's an interesting idea, and would be in line with Marvel's youth movement begun with their upcoming Spider-Man movie. But is this how Blade fans want to see their favorite Daywalker return, by mentoring his kid? This is all just a rumor for now, but expect that Marvel will be bringing Blade back to the big or small screen in some way soon.
