Steve Carell Replaces Bruce Willis in Woody Allen's New Film

Not that there was any doubt Woody Allen would have trouble replacing Bruce Willis, who departed his next film supposedly due to Broadway commitments, but the actor he got to fill the role on such short notice is a surprise. Deadline is reporting that Steve Carell has taken over for Willis in the movie, joining Kristen Stewart, Jesse Eisenberg, Parker Posey, Corey Stoll, Anna Camp, Blake Lively, and more.

Carell and Allen worked together a decade ago in Melinda & Melinda, so Carell should be a good fit for Allen's style, perhaps even better than Willis. Rumors have been circulating that Willis didn't really quit, but that he was actually fired. This account would make more sense considering Willis had already been on set shooting his role, with plenty of set photos to prove it.

Whatever the case, production continues unimpeded and we'll see Allen's movie in theaters next summer.
