Wally West is coming to 'The Flash' Season Two, played by Keiynan Lonsdale

There's a new speedster that will be racing through The Flash season two, and it's none other than the Flash! How's that? Because Keiynan Lonsdale (Insurgent) has just been cast as Wally West, who in the DC Comics eventually claims the mantle of the Flash.

In the comics, Wally West is the nephew of Iris West, who is played by Candace Patton in the series and is the future wife of Barry Allen. After going through a similar freak accident as his uncle Barry, Wally was also granted the gift of super speed. As Kid Flash he served as Barry's sidekick and was a founding member of the Teen Titans. After Barry gave his life during the Crisis on Infinite Earths event, it was Wally who became the new Flash.

With the second season exploring the Multiverse and possibly the Speed Force, other versions of the Flash will be popping up. Teddy Sears was recently cast as Jay Garrick, the original Golden Age version of the Flash. And it sounds like Wally is definitely going to be suiting up as Kid Flash at some point as he's been made a series regular. Here's what exec-producer Andrew Kreisberg had to say...

“Just like when we met Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero.We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”

The Flash returns to the CW on October 6th.
