Steven Spielberg already has a lost on his plate with the press tour for Bridge of Spies gearing up. But he's also got an adaptation of children's book The BFG next on his list, and perhaps what has people most excited is a big screen take on Ernest Cline's cult classic novel, Ready Player One. That one's still quite a ways off, but casting for the lead roles has already begun with some impressive young talent in the mix.
According to The Wrap, five actresses are up for the role of Art3mis, the avatar of Samantha Cook in the virtual world known as OASIS. Joining two mystery finalists are Elle Fanning,Olivia Cooke, who is also on the shortlist for Star Wars: Episode VIII, and Mistress America's Lola Kirke. Meanwhile, Variety's Justin Kroll adds that Jurassic World's Nick Robinson is an early choice for the role of Parzival, the avatar belonging to main protagonist Wade Owen Watts. Of the group, Fanning is the biggest name but Kirke may have the most upside. She was tremendous in Noah Baumbach's Mistress America and good in Gone Girl, as well.It may take Spielberg a little while to make a decision but when he's ready he plans to get moving quickly. Ready Player One will hit theaters on December 15th 2017.
