Jake Gyllenhaal Wrecks His Life In The 'Demolition' Trailer

What's the awards season without Jean-Paul Vallee? The last couple of years have seen the director bring Dallas Buyers Club and Wild into contention, but this time around his film Demolition has been bumped into next April. But one shouldn't take that as Fox Searchlight having no faith in it, because Vallee will be bringing it to TIFF later this month, and already eyes are on star Jake Gyllenhaal's lead performance.

The first trailer for Demolition has been released and it features Gyllenhaal as a grieving lawyer who turns to some unusual tactics to get over it. Naomi Watts, Judah Lewis, and Chris Cooper co-star. Here's the synopsis:

Davis (Jake Gyllenhaal), a successful investment banker, struggles after losing his wife in a tragic car crash. Despite pressure from his father in law Phil (Chris Cooper) to pull it together, Davis continues to unravel. What starts as a complaint letter to a vending machine company turns into a series of letters revealing startling personal admissions. Davis’ letters catch the attention of customer service rep Karen (Naomi Watts) and, amidst emotional and financial burdens of her own, the two form an unlikely connection. With the help of Karen and her son Chris (Judah Lewis), Davis starts to rebuild, beginning with the demolition of the life he once knew.

Demolition opens April 8th 2016.
