Is there anyone out there who is not excited for The Revenant? How would that even be possible? First of all, there's a grizzled Leonardo DiCaprio battling the harsh elements, joined by a phenomenal cast that includes Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Lukas Haas, and Will Poulter. Next, it's directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, with the Birdman director re-teaming with famed cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki and going au natural in their approach to lighting. Finally, there are the horror stories, with production overruns, busted budgets, scheduling delays, and on-set dangers everywhere. Yeah, The Revenant is looking to be something special, and the newly-released trailer only confirms it.
Here's the official synopsis: Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.
