Okay, my thoughts on Marvel's hero Luke Cage are this: You can't have Luke Cage without Iron Fist. You can't have Luke Cage without Heroes for Hire. You can't have Luke Cage without Misty Knight. So far Marvel and Netflix are two for three, because not only do we have an Iron Fist series on the way, but now Simone Missick has joined the Luke Cage cast as Misty Knight. Booyah.
Along with that news comes word that Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) has joined the cast as the villain Shades, and that Rosario Dawson will appear on the series as Claire Temple, meaning she'll be in this, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones. As for Missick, she's mostly starred in short films and appeared in one episode of Ray Donovan, making this her biggest gig yet. Misty Knight, known for her Angela Davis-style afro and cybernetic arm, was originally an NYPD officer but became a private investigator working alongside Cage and Danny "Iron Fist" Rand. She frequently partners up with Colleen Wing (it's only a matter of time before she's cast) and is often a love interest for Iron Fist. Basically, she kicks a lot of ass, even leading the Heroes for Hire at different stages.
Starring Mike Colter, Marvel's Luke Cage premieres in 2016 after the character debuts in the Jessica Jones series later this year. [Deadline]
