Patrick Dempsey Joins Renee Zellwegger for 'Bridget Jones's Baby'

While he may no longer be McDreamy, Patrick Dempsey is still breaking hearts wherever he goes. It looks like his next conquest will be Renee Zellwegger as he's now joined the cast of the third Bridget Jones film, titled Bridget Jones's Baby.

Directed by Sharon Maguire, who was at the helm of Bridget Jones's Diary back in 2001, the film isn't based on the third book in Helen Fielding's series, but instead will be inspired by columns she wrote. Only Zellwegger and Colin Firth are reprising their roles, so no Hugh Grant in this one, and it's likely that Dempsey's character will be vying for Jones' love. It's possible he could be the father of her child, too, as the title gives away that she'll be pregnant.

This will be Dempsey's first major film role since 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon. He's been busy racing cars or something. Production on Bridget Jones's Baby begins next month. [Deadline]
