Diane Keaton Goes to 'Hampstead', Hugo Weaving Enters 'Hacksaw Ridge', Robbie Amell Joins 'The Babysitter'
Diane Keaton and Brendan Gleeson are teaming up for Hamsptead, a new film from director Joel Hopkins (Last Chance Harvey) set in the affluent London area. Penned by Robert Festinger, who wrote the terrific screenplay for In the Bedroom, the story centers on an American widow who befriends an unkempt, man whose ramshackle home is threatened by property developers who want to see him removed. Filming begins early next year. Gleeson can be seen this week stirring up trouble in Suffragette, while Keaton has the holiday comedy, Love the Coopers. [Deadline]
Hugo Weaving has left the Matrix and entered Hacksaw Ridge, the war drama which will be Mel Gibson's next directorial effort. He'll play the father to Andrew Garfield's character, real-life hero Desmond Doss, a conscientious objector in WWII who earned the Medal of Honor for saving 75 men at the battle of Okinawa. Vince Vaughn and Aussie actors Sam Worthington, Teresa Palmer, Rachel Griffiths, and Luke Bracey co-star. [TheWrap]
Taking a break from lighting things up as Firestorm on The Flash, Robbie Amell has joined the cast of The Babysitter. Directed by McG (remember when he was relevant?) with Judah Lewis and Samara Weaving (coincidentally Hugo Weaving's niece) starring, the story follows a boy and his babysitter during a night in which everything that can go wrong does. So basically this is Adventures in Babysitting, but the script by Brian Duffield was heralded on the Black List, suggesting there could be more to it.
