Edgar Ramirez Joins 'The Girl On the Train', Tom Felton Boards Two Projects, Zosia Mamet Meets 'The Boy Downstairs'


Edgar Ramirez, who will be seen in Joy and the Point Break remake later this year, has joined another highly-anticipated film, The Girl On the Train. He joins Rebecca Ferguson, Emily Blunt, and Haley Bennett in Tate Taylor's adaptation of Paula Hawkins' best-selling thriller. The story centers on a drunken divorcee (Blunt) who fantasizes about the seemingly-perfect family she passes every day on the train, only to become involved when the wife goes missing. Ramirez plays Dr. Kamal Abdric, a therapist whose affair with the missing woman makes him a suspect. Chris Evans and Jared Leto are reportedly up for the other male roles, but no deal has been signed. [Deadline]

Tom Felton aka Draco Malfoy has joined Kate Mara in the Iraq War biopic, Megan Leavey. Directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite with Edie Falco and Ramon Rodriguez co-starring, the film tells the true story of Leavey, a troubled female Marine whose life is changed when she joins a K9 unit. Felton will play a veteran dog handler.

Before that, Felton will rejoin Belle director Amma Asante for United Kingdom. Starring David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike, the period romance centers on the illicit romance between  South African royal Seretse Khama who falls in love with a white English commoner. Felton, always a great bad guy, will play the posh district commissioner preventing Khama from getting married to the woman he loves. [THR]

Girls star Zosia Mamet will lead indie comedy The Boy Downstairs from writer/director Sophie Brooks. Also featuring Deirdre O’Connell, Matthew Shear, and Diana Irvine, the story follows a young New York City woman who accidentally moves into her ex-boyfriend's building after returning from a trip to Europe.
