'Godzilla vs. Kong' Confirmed for Epic Crossover in 2020

Following Warner Bros.' kaiju-sized success of Godzilla and Legendary Picture' announcement of Kong: Skull Island, it was inevitable the two franchises would crossover. While it seemed a bit less likely when the latter moved over to Universal Pictures, that roadblock was recently removed in order to make a crossover between the giant movie monsters a reality, and now their epic slugfest has been announced.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have confirmed Godzilla vs. Kong for some time in 2020.  Here's how the studios describe their epic clash: "All powerful monsters will become towering heroes for a new generation, revealing a mythology that brings together Godzilla and Legendary’s King Kong in an ecosystem of other giant super-species, both classic and new."

But you can't just throw these legendary creatures into a ring and let them throw down. There has to be a build-up first and it begins with Kong: Skull Island on March 10th 2017, followed by Gareth Edwards' Godzilla 2 on June 2nd 2018. Don't forget that Legendary also has the rights to other classic big screen monsters such as King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan, all of which have been promised to appear.

So what do you think? Awesome? Or an unnecessary crossing over of franchises?
